How to find the tire size from the registration and the vehicle
No model code? Find the right size from the registration, door label and tire sidewall.
1. Tire sidewall
The quickest way: the current tire shows a marking like 315/80R22.5 156/150L. The tire may have been changed, so compare with the sources below.
2. Registration and certificate of conformity
The registration and the COC list the type and variant, number of axles and maximum axle loads; some also list tire sizes per axle. Search the type/variant on Truck-Size.
3. Door and chassis labels
A label inside the driver's door or on the chassis may show the tire size and recommended pressure.
4. Reading model codes
- Mercedes 1845: 18 t, 450 hp. LS tractor unit, K tipper, B mixer.
- MAN TGX 18.480: 18 t, 480 hp.
- Axle configuration: 4x2 two axles (one driven), 6x4 three axles (two driven), 8x4 four axles (two driven).
A size different from the registration may cause problems at inspection; ask your dealer first.
